Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

What is the best aeration for shrimp ponds?

Fine-bubble microporous bottom aeration is the standard for shrimp: it oxygenates the bottom layer where shrimp rest and uses roughly half the electricity of paddle wheels. Run it by the dissolved-oxygen curve — see our DO management guide.

How much does aeration cost?

A microporous bottom-aeration layout runs at roughly 0.15 kW per mu and saves about 50% of the electricity of a paddle-wheel setup — the fine-bubble vs paddle-wheel comparison shows the numbers.

Which blower size do I need?

Use the rule of 1 kW of blower per 100–150 m of microporous tubing, with blower pressure equal to water depth plus 15–20% headroom. Work through your numbers in the roots blower sizing guide.
